OTHER PROJECTS
live recordings - home recordings - experiments - curiosities
Jerusalem Artichoke
This is the second piece (recently) that I've made with tapdancer and longtime friend, Orlando Hernandez. We performed it at the Motion State Dance Festival in Providence, RI in March of 2020. This is what it looked like:
Inneriver
This is a home recording of a song I wrote in 2020. I recorded the drum parts with my wife, Katherine, without using a click, and then layered the rest of the parts on top of that.
The Longest Winter
This song is dedicated to the winter that never ended -- the year 2020. I recorded this on an upright piano and then saturated it with that special sauce that brings to mind long hours of quarantine and global soul-searching
These are a couple songs of mine from a show at the Blue Hill Wine Shop (the best wine shop) in 2018 that was part of a small tour of downeast Maine that I did with Ross Gallagher (bass), Ari Chersky (guitar), and Max Jaffe (drums)
The Plane of Action
The Plane of Action is the place where real stuff happens. That's what this song is about.
Dissolve
This song came from a desire for greater simplicity.
Space Angel
I wrote this song originally for the Soulbenders. I recorded this demo originally to send to bandmates to learn the song.
ODD JOBS
I wrote this solo piano piece in 2016 during my first year living in Maine. It was first performed by Christina Spurling at the Surry Arts Barn, and then my dad (!) recorded a few parts of it in 2018 on his album Handprints 2018. But before any of that happened, we did a group version of it with a group we called The Fishkill Quintet, which was made up of contributors to Fishkill Records -- Kyle Wilson, Ross Gallagher, Zach Lane, and Chris Doyle.
